Some of the winners here sure are interesting picks.
All of the games that won in their respective categories for The Steam Awards 2023.

The community nominated, the community voted, and now the winners of The Steam Awards 2023 have been revealed! Remembering that every winner listed below was nominated and voted on purely by the Steam community, regardless of game ownership. That said: There are some very interesting winners that have been selected for each category.

For instance, we see that Red Dead Redemption 2 has won the Labor of Love category! Red Dead Redemption 2 hasn't had a major update since mid-2021 and Rockstar themselves have even said they were basically abandoning development of the game to move developers over to Grand Theft Auto 6 development. All seasonal events that have come out since mid-2021 have been recycled events from prior years.

Then there is the Most Innovative Gameplay award, which has gone to Starfield! Starfield being the latest game from Bethesda Game Studios. Starfield also being a game that is sitting at an overall Steam user review score of "Mixed" and recent reviews at "Mostly Negative." The chief complaint by reviewers and players of Starfield is that the game did not innovate enough or deviate enough from the old Bethesda formula.
