XBOX: 1,600 Layoffs Today, Another 1,600 Over the Next Year, Four Studios Now Independent or Sold, Arkane in Limbo
More broadly, Microsoft is cutting 4,800 jobs.
Today, Microsoft is laying off 2.1% of its workforce. This equates to 4,800 people that are being let go. The company's XBOX division is cutting about 20% of its entire workforce. All of this is being done in an effort to cut costs due to rising prices and expenses brought about by artificial intelligence (AI).

Lord of Hatred Review: Diablo 4 Finally Finds Its Final Form
This is Diablo 4 at its best. I mean it this time. For real.
Returning to the world of Sanctuary for this latest chapter feels like a true homecoming for those of us who have spent hundreds of hours traversing its dark and unforgiving landscapes since the base game launched back in 2023. The release of the Lord of Hatred expansion marks a significant step forward in the narrative that was originally set in motion during the initial campaign and furthered by the events of the Vesse...

Bethesda Issues Meager Compensation in Response to Nylon Bag Controversy
Yesterday, we brought you the story about how Bethesda pulled a bait-and-switch on consumers that purchased the $200 Power Armor Edition of Fallout 76. Today, we have a bit of an update on the story to share with you. Bethesda noticed that there were suddenly a lot of eyes on them after multiple media outlets picked up the story, and in response they decided to try to make things right. Bethesda, by way of the official Fallout Twitter account, announced a bit of compensation late last n...

Fallout 76's $200 Edition Promised Canvas Bag is a Real Stinker
The $200 Power Armor Edition of Fallout 76 promised to include a "Canvas West Tek Duffel Bag" in addition to some other neat gear like a wearable Power Armor helmet, map, and more. The problem is that consumers that spent the $200 for this Power Armor Edition ended up getting little more than a trash bag instead of the fancy canvas one they were promised.
What fans actually received for their monetary show of support was a cheap nylon bag. This is, obviously, not the one that was advertised.... -

The first developer diary video for The Dark Pictures - Man of Medan was released today from Supermassive Games. Artifact is Out Now from Valve
Valve has released a new game. I hope you were sitting down for that one because that sentence probably knocked you on your ass and tea bagged you.
Valve's Artifact has been released on Steam for $19.99 (USD). It's a card battling game based around Dota 2 characters, locations, and abilities. It was created alongside the famous designer Richard Garfield, so it has a high chance of being pretty damn good. We have a new trailer to show off with you today. In addition, there is an... -
Valve Released an Artifact Comic
Just two days ahead of the release of Artifact, Valve did what Valve does best and released a new comic. It's called "Prelude" and it serves as a prelude to their upcoming card battling game. A second comic called "Call to Arms" will drop on Wednesday. These comics "sets the stage for a series of events that will transform the world of Dota forever." So, are they changing the base Dota game as a result? Because if not, that seems like a kind of silly thing to say about Artifact, no? Any...

Black Mesa: Xen Trailer Revealed, Release Almost a Year Away
The Black Mesa team finally released a trailer for the Xen portion of their long in-development game. As you may recall, Black Mesa was "released" in a rather incomplete stage. I say "released" because even though it was added to Steam back in May 2015, it's still listed as an "Early Access" title. I also say "released" because the entire Xen portion from the original Half-Life wasn't included. But it's now 2018 and we finally have our first actual trailer for the Xen component. The good ne...

I'm not even going to repost the changelog here, that's just how long it is.
You Dota fans go have fun now. From what I gather, this update has been a bit of a wait for you.... -
Artifact Beta is Now Live
Valve just passed along word that the beta for their card battling game, Artifact, is now live. Artifact is brought to us from designer Richard Garfield and Valve. Garfield is the creator of a little CCG called Magic: The Gathering. Perhaps you've heard of it?
The Artifact beta is available to those that were given beta keys. Beta keys were given out at various events including at The International 2018 and one of the PAX events. Valve says that the beta includes all modes o... -

Counter-Strike Gets Spooky in Latest Update
The Halloween content for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is here. Valve released an update for CS:GO today that turns all players into ghosts when they die. These apparitions can be seen by other ghosts in the world, apply graffiti in the world, and more.
I'm also hearing the chickens are ready for some tricks and/or treats.
We have the full changelog from the update for you. There are more than just ghosts changed in this update, so be sure to read up.

Valve Delays Artifact Beta
Valve's beta for Artifact has been delayed until November 19. The beta was supposed to begin this month but that isn't happening. There is also concern that the game itself, which is still slated to begin on November 28, will also be pushed back due to the very late start on the beta.
PC Gamer seems to be the first outlet to notice this delay. They spotted a tweet by Wykrhm Reddy, a known tester for Valve, in which the November 19 date was prominently featured for the start of... -

Valve Making Great Strides to Combat Steam's Content Problem
Valve just updated their blog today with some information that I honestly wasn't expecting to see. A few months ago Valve's Erik Johnson put up a blog post that more or less said that they were going to be working on making things better in the Steam store and would work on removing games and developers that were being obvious trolls or those with illegal content in their games.
It sounded, at least to me, like they were again going to be super hands off and let the market curate... -

by Shawn ZipayMake up your own definition of "complete."
Was 2025 a big year for game completions for you, or were you more of a "stick to one never-ending, live-service game for the entire year" sort of player?
For this, you can take whatever definition you want as a game "completion." Beat the main story? Earned 100% of the game's achievements? Or simply played enough that you're satisfied with what you accomplished and have no plans to return any time...I did not complete any game in 202533.33%2I completed up to 10 games50.00%3I completed more than 10 games16.67%1-
