Ubisoft Pulls Licenses for The Crew, Makes the Game Completely Inaccessible to Buyers

From the same company trying to sell you a $130 version of Star Wars Outlaws.

From announcing a $130 edition of Star Wars Outlaws to pulling game licenses from those that bought The Crew, Ubisoft sure is on a roll this week.

The Crew was Ubisoft's open-world racing game that was pulled from sale back in December 2023. As of March 31, 2024, Ubisoft shut down the online servers for The Crew. This effectively made the game unplayable across all platforms, including: PC,...

Tim Sweeney Called Valve 'Assholes' in Email to Gabe Newell, Valve COO Says 'You Mad Bro?'

Tim Sweeney is always mad.

The antitrust lawsuit against Valve from Wolfire Games got a little spicy this week. To quickly get you up to speed: Wolfire claims that Valve uses its position with Steam to control game prices and muscle out competition. Though the initial lawsuit against Valve was dismissed, Wolfire amended their suit in May 2022 and the legal battle was back on.

It may have taken almost two years, but we are now starting to see some of the documents that...

No, Starfield and Indiana Jones are not going multi-platform any time soon.

The heads of Xbox stayed true to their word and were indeed a part of a special edition of the Official Xbox Podcast. During today's pre-recorded podcast and subsequent blog post, head of Xbox Phil Spencer stated that four Xbox exclusives are going to be multi-platform releases. Is it Starfield? Indiana Jones? Gears of War? Halo?! No, no, no, and no. Though Spencer did not specify what those four titles ...

Valve Removes 173 Spam Titles from Steam Yet Keeps Achievement Farming Games

Earlier, Valve pulled 173 "spam" titles from the Steam store. These titles belonged to Silent Echo Studios. The studio avoided paying the $100 fee for Steam Direct on multiple occasions by submitting multiple games at once. This led to multiple games being added to the Steam store to the tune of roughly a couple dozen games per month. These were all submitted with Steam trading cards and thus attracted collectors that just had to catch 'em all. The studio made a pretty penny on the sale...

Valve's Fix for Combating Review Bombing is a Graph

Review bombing is when a bunch of Steam users get together in an effort to drastically raise or drastically lower the user scores for a game. It's usually the case that a developer or publisher has done something that people don't agree with so they "get back" at them by submitting a bunch of negative reviews. Those mass spammed negative reviews are then upvoted in a mass circle jerk while any positive reviews are mass downvoted. This is all done in an effort to... do... something? I guess their...

  • Steam Surpasses 15 Million Concurrent Users as PUBG Surpasses Dota 2 Player Record

Whew, PC gaming sure is dead, eh? We have some new records to announce to you today. First up, Steam has surpassed 15 million concurrent users. This means that all around the world statues crumble for me there were 15 million people logged into Steam but not necessarily playing games. Still though, it's impressive. What is even more impressive is when you realize that this breaks the previous record of around 14.7 million users, which happened last weekend. That, in turn, broke the p...

  • TmarTn and Syndicate Get Off Scott Free After Promoting Gambling Site to Minors

Specifically, they were promoting CS:GO gambling sites that they owned to minors, without any sort of disclosure. The two had paid other, unnamed, YouTubers anywhere between $2,500 (USD) and $55,000 to promote their sites. Well, the FTC has investigated and surprise, surprise, the two will face no pen...

The roster includes religious figures such as good ol' Jesus "JC" Christ, Buddha, Zeus, Odin, and more. They went ahead and banned the entire country from accessing the Steam store. They feel as tho...

This is the Plot to Half-Life 3

January 8, 2016 is when we reported that Half-Life writer, Marc Laidlaw, parted ways from Valve. 18 years worth of writing for the company saw him pen some of the best games of our lifetime including the entirety of Half-Life, Left 4 Dead, Dota 2, and Portal. It was sad, disappointing, and even a bit frustrating that he left before we ever got to experience his work in Half-Life 3. It's weird to think about Half-Life 3. Fans have wanted it for years now, but Valve just doesn't seem capabl...

Valve Made a New Game. It's a Dota Card Game. Yeah, I know.

Valve finally made a new game. It's a collectible card battling game based on Dota called Artifact. Actually, it seems as though the full title is Artifact - The Dota Card Game, just in case there was any grey room remaining on it being tied to Dota. They announced it this evening during The International 7 and man that crowd reaction was priceless. There isn't anything known about this game outside of the fact that it's coming in 2018 and Valve has released a teaser for the game. Given...

PSA: Steam Lagging Today? Here's a Workaround Fix

A great number of people, including myself, have noticed that Steam is a wee bit laggy today. And by a "wee bit" I mean it's borderline unusable. Fortunately, some users have found a workaround fix for the issue.

Comments on Reddit and the Steam Community provided a few fixes for this issue that may help you out.

    1. One potential fix is to clear the browser cache within Steam. You can do this by going to your Steam Settings > Web Browser > Delete Web Browser

Black Mesa Once Again Delays Xen

Oh hey look, Black Mesa announced a delay. This is totally shocking and unexpected. Xen is delayed. Oh no. Surprising. Etc.
Unfortunately, as some of you may have already predicted, we are going to need to push back our planned release of Xen to later this year, in December. We know that this is not what anyone would want to hear, but after taking a long and hard look at what we want to achieve, we have decided that this is for the best. We do not want to compromise on Xen’s quality
