More broadly, Microsoft is cutting 4,800 jobs.

Today, Microsoft is laying off 2.1% of its workforce. This equates to 4,800 people that are being let go. The company's XBOX division is cutting about 20% of its entire workforce. All of this is being done in an effort to cut costs due to rising prices and expenses brought about by artificial intelligence (AI).

As a quick reminder: Microsoft plans to spend $190 billion on AI in 2026. In 2025, the company spent $80 billion...

Digital only after January 2028.

Starting January 2028, Sony will no longer produce physical discs for new PlayStation game releases. All games released in January 2028 and after will be available only through digital stores such as the PlayStation Store.

Sony attempts to justify this move by claiming it's a "natural direction" in order to "adapt to consumer trends as the general preference for digital media significantly outpaces physical discs."...

Lord of Hatred Review: Diablo 4 Finally Finds Its Final Form

This is Diablo 4 at its best. I mean it this time. For real.

Returning to the world of Sanctuary for this latest chapter feels like a true homecoming for those of us who have spent hundreds of hours traversing its dark and unforgiving landscapes since the base game launched back in 2023. The release of the Lord of Hatred expansion marks a significant step forward in the narrative that was originally set in motion during the initial campaign and furthered by the events of the Vesse...

Steam Workshop Items Need Approval from Valve

But only for first-party titles from Valve.

You may have already seen that news going around that items on the Steam Workshop must now be approved by Valve before they will appear for the public. This seems to include anything that you may typically find on the Steam Workshop, including custom maps, models, skins, sounds, and the like. This first showed up via a Reddit post on the Global Offensive subreddit.

However, this approval process is not for every Workshop enabled...

Valve to Put an End to Abuse of 'Upcoming Releases' Section on Steam

Hopefully this puts a stop to studios that game the system to always appear on the first page of upcoming releases.

If you ever tried to look at the "all upcoming releases" section on Steam, you probably noticed that a lot of games appearing on the first couple of pages didn't actually have set release dates. A lot of them would appear to be vague windows of time that would, for whatever reason, still show up before games that actually had set releases planned in the coming...

Valve Apologizes for Leaking Street Fighter V Character Reveal Early

Valve apologizes for an incident they call "regrettable and unintentional."

Just this past Thursday, Capcom made the big reveal that E. Honda, Lucia, and Poison were coming to Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition. For some fans, this was completely new and exciting news to read. For others, this was just a confirmation of a leak that happened on Wednesday of this past week.

The leak in question was an early release of the reveal trailer for the three upcoming characters....

Introducing Steam Labs - A Place to Test New Steam Features

    Launching today with three experiments.

Valve has just launched a new area on Steam where users can test out new, experimental features for Steam. They're calling this area the Steam Labs and it is here where users will be able to test out potential new Steam features. These tests may one day become commonplace on Steam, but for now they are mere experiments ripe for testing and potential changes based on user feedback.

If you ever used Gmail, you may already know what...

Steam Will Not Support Ubuntu 19.10 and Later

    But will still support Linux.

Valve is one of the big reasons why gaming on Linux has seen such a massive surge in recent years. One of the biggest pushes came not from specially created Linux builds of games, but from Proton, a fork of Wine that Valve released to allow for games to become playable on Linux that may not have native Linux support. At present, there are over 5,400 games that work through Steam on Linux thanks to Proton.

Over the years, Valve has recommended...

Valve Kicks Off Spring Cleaning Event

Play some old games before you buy new ones?

Given that we already seem to know when the Steam Summer Sale will go live, it just makes sense that you should play and finish some of your back catalog first. That seems to be what Valve was thinking when they kicked off their Spring Cleaning Event today. This event rewards you for playing old games that have been sitting in your library, games you haven't played yet, and even some new, free games they're offering for the duration of this...

Valve Releases Stand-alone Steam Chat App for Mobile

If you're still confused, maybe this will make it a bit easier to understand. You know how there is the bloated Facebook app for mobile phones? And you know how Facebook has a private messaging system that they...

    'DOTA Underlords' Trademarked by Valve

    It's probably DOTA Auto Chess.

Valve was given a new trademark this week. This trademark is for an upcoming "computer game" called DOTA Underlords. Literally nothing else is known about this title. There is speculation that it may be the name of Valve's standalone release of DOTA Auto Chess, but that's as much of a guess as anything else.

For all we know, it could be a VR title, something to do with Artifact, or something completely unexpected....

Valve Being Sued by Native American Nation Over Skins Gambling

Native American Quinault Tribal Nation members have filed a lawsuit in the state of Washington against Valve over skins gambling. The group accuses Valve of participating in "unethical, oppressive, and unscrupulous business conduct."

The plaintiffs own and operate the Quinault Beach Resort and Casino. They argue that Valve has engaged in unfair competition with legally licensed gambling operations. Valve does not have a license to conduct gambling operations. The lawsuit argues that because Valve does not have a gambling license they are illegally facilitating gambling through the trade of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive skins ...

Early this morning, the European Commission (EC) issued an official "statements of objections" today towards Valve, Bandai Namco, Capcom, Focus Home, Koch Media, and ZeniMax. • How Many Games Did You Complete in 2025?
    by Shawn Zipay
Make up your own definition of "complete."

Was 2025 a big year for game completions for you, or were you more of a "stick to one never-ending, live-service game for the entire year" sort of player?

For this, you can take whatever definition you want as a game "completion." Beat the main story? Earned 100% of the game's achievements? Or simply played enough that you're satisfied with what you accomplished and have no plans to return any time...
