Valve just announced that their Steam Lunar New Year Sale has begun once more for 2019. This sale is in honor of the Year of the Pig and runs from now until February 11, 2019.

As part of the normal discounts on games, consumers will also get a bonus $5 (or equivalent currency) discount on "qualifying purchases over $30 (limited to one cart purchase per account)." This bonus $5 discount apparently only applies to the first purchase of $30 or more that you make during the sale period.

In addition, you can get a few different rewards during this sale. Buying games earns you tokens that can be redeemed at the Rewards Booth. Rewards seem to range from earning an additional $5 discount on your next store purchase, to having a "golden" profile pages and badges, to profile backgrounds, to some emotes like this adorable "pig in a blanket" one.

See? Isn't he cute? You earn 100 tokens for every $1 you spend in the store, or 111 tokens per $1 of gifts given. Valve does note that you can't hold onto those tokens until next year, so you may as well spend them. Valve is also giving you some initial tokens based on your previous purchases.

Also of note today is the fact that Valve is ready to announce the winners of the Steam Awards. You nominated the games. You voted on them this past December. Now, it's finally time to see which games reign supreme. Valve is going to reveal the winners live at Steam.tv/SteamAwards at 10AM (PT) on February 8. I'm sure a list will be provided after the show for those that cannot watch it live.
