This past week, fans have been eagerly hanging on to every word and clue revealed in an apparent Valve ARG born from the Steam Holiday Sale 2015. There was even an apparent lambda symbol found!Well, it seems it's all for not. Someone received an email response from Valve's Marc Laidlaw, who made sure to crush everyone's hopes and dreams of this being anything related to Half-Life 3.

And for those who don't want to (or can't) read Laidlaw's response in the above image:
"I asked around because I didn’t know anything about the ARG but people were asking me about it. It relates to the Steam sale only as far as I can tell. It is not intended as a way to roll out a new game"
That's it, everyone. Just go ahead and pack it up now. This was just another in a series of big disappointments as far as Half-Life 3 is concerned. I'm already looking forward to being completely disappointed by the next ARG.
This might be the only game series with this much anticipation built up amongst its fans, everyone else is more than happy to sell you sequels until the ip stops being marketable... apparently we don't want the game enough :P.
By the way, who killed Zippy? Just anybody from the Black Ice Boys? I'm guessing Zippy found out what Holly was really up to? The whole murder thing kind of got sidetracked and seemingly ignored when Holly came clean.
