Ion Fury Devs Apologize for Numerous Sexist, Homophobic, and Transphobic Remarks

Sweeping changes are promised as a result.

Voidpoint, the studio behind the just released Ion Fury, has apologized for a series of "incidents" wherein multiple developers were found to use transphobic, ableist, homophobic, and sexist language in the game's official Discord channel. This is on top of some homophobic language found within the game itself.

Over the weekend, a thread had popped up on gaming forum ResetEra that showed multiple instances where the developers had made transphobic remarks via Discord. Members of the dev team were also shown to make...

Respawn Apologizes to Ass-hat Gamers for 'Ass-hat' Remarks

Statement issued from Respawn's Vince Zampella.

Respawn's CEO Vince Zampella issued a bit of an apology today after members of the Apex Legends development team called a bunch of toxic ass-hat gamers, well... they called them ass-hats. Donning their biggest surprised Pikachu face possible, these Gamers™ got extra angry when they realized they couldn't just keep dishing it out and not expect some form of retaliation in return. Some continued to throw tantrums, others called for boycots, while still others did their best "I studied the blade" impersonation.

Sony Bought Insomniac Games Today

Get ready for more Spider-Man.

Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) has officially purchased Insomniac Games today. You're probably surprised to hear that the studio that developed last year's PlayStation 4 exclusive Spider-Man wasn't already owned by Sony prior to this week.

Insomniac Games was first started in 1994 and remained an independent game developer for this 25 year span of time. They created Spyro the Dragon, the Ratchet & Clank games, along with the Resistance franchise. All of these franchises were PlayStation exclusives, at least initially. Every so...

Metal Gear Survive Apparently Has a Plot

Metal Gear Survive is the upcoming Metal Gear Solid V spin-off game that Konami is working on. Yeah, Konami still makes a game here or there, presumably when it's a slow season for pachislot. Metal Gear Survive finds you fighting for survival after Mother Base is nearly pulled into a wormhole following the events of Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes.

This is already a really stupid plot, even by Metal Gear standards. I'm just going to let Konami's press release do the talking.

ConcernedApe, the developer behind the wildly popular Stardew Valley, teased the upcoming multiplayer update for the game. In a Tweet, ConcernedApe showed off how he and three of his friends were playing the game over LAN together. The multiplayer update for Stardew Valley has been anticipated by fans for quite a number of months now. Even with the lengthy wait, ConcernedApe did not yet share any specifics about the release date. The last we knew is that this multiplayer would be added in "Q1 2018." Oh, and for those wondering, yes you will be able to marry other players if you so desire. For those that don't want to play with...

Bungie Outlines Its Plans for Major Destiny 2 Improvements

By the end of 2017, Destiny 2 found itself looking at a mixed bag of user reviews, despite the initial critical consensus being relatively strong. This gulf continues to grow between the critical response to Destiny 2 at launch and the current opinion of the fans. At release, things were relatively positive between everyone because the game was new and exciting. The possibility for the future was still wide open. As time wore on, the cracks began to become more and more apparent. The critics probably moved on from game and reviews were not updated to reflect this ever changing view of what is expected to be a long-term game experience. Fans, however, have stuck with the ga...

  • New Resident Evil Social Media Logo is Decidedly Old School

New Resident Evil Social Media Logo is Decidedly Old School

This past week, the various Resident Evil social media channels, such as Twitter and Facebook, updated with a new logo. It's so new that it's actually old, as in it's very reminiscent of the original Resident Evil logo from the original release of the first three games back on the PlayStation. Specifically, it looks a lot like the font and style used for the very first Resident Evil game back in 1996.

For you youngsters out there that don't know there was a "PlayStation" before there was a PlayStation 3 or even a PlayStation 2, it's time for a little blast from the past. This was the logo for the original Resident Evil release.

    Look at tha...

  • Sharp Wits and Sharp Knives Come Together in SOS, Entering Early Access on January 23

Come January 23, you can pick up a copy of the new survival multiplayer game, SOS, for just $29.99 (USD) through Steam Early Access. The game is being developed by Outpost Games, a studio made up of former EA, YouTube, and Twitch veterans. I'm assuming this means that they worked at YouTube and Twitch and weren't just streamers? Let's go with that because it sounds a lot more plausible right now.

SOS will put 16 players against each other in a "30-minute reality show-style challenge to escape a dangerous tropical island" called La Cuna.
In SOS, 16 players compete to retrieve a valuable relic from the ruins of a mysterious island in order

  • Dark Souls: Remastered Announced for Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC

This should come as no surprise to those that read the rumor from late last night, but Dark Souls: Remastered was officially announced today. Really, the only thing that's different from the initial leak is the fact that the remaster is not a PlayStation 4 exclusive as initially thought. Instead, Dark Souls: Remastered will be released for the Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC via Steam on May 25, 2018.

Anamorphine Pushes Its Adventure to Late Q1 2018

It's time for the unfortunate news of a game delay. The game in question is the "introspective adventure" game from Artifact 5, Anamorphine. Instead of releasing on January 16, the studio feels as though they needed more time to polish the game. At present, the game will now ship in "late Q1 2018" which places the release closer to the mid-March realm.
