This move comes months after staying firm in a 50/50 split.

In late September 2022, Twitch announced that they are not going to budge on a policy change that would let Twitch partners earn more than 50% on all subscriptions. For a long while, several Twitch partners were earning a 70/30 split, which let them pull in 70% of all user subscriptions, while everyone else earned the base 50%.

At the time, Twitch streamers and viewers signed a petition pushing for a 70/30 split for everyone. Then Twitch president Dan Clancy responded to the petition and the requests with a firm "no" in an open letter. Not only was the split going to remain at 50/50 but those that were enjoying a 70/30 split already would also go down to that 50/50 split after hitting $100,000 (USD).

Nobody was happy with this outcome.

Well, Twitch is going to be Twitch and just announced plans to move forward with a form of that 70/30 split for Partners up to that $100,000 threshold. Once Partners hit that $100,000 threshold, the split goes back to regular rates.

Not only that, but Partners must first qualify for this program that Twitch is calling Partner Plus. As their previous plans indicate, eligible Partners will earn 70% on all subscriptions until they earn $100,000. After that point, they will return to "standard Partner rates," presumably being 50%.

Twitch details some requirements that must be met first before you can even think about joining the Partner Plus program. In this FAQ, they say that you must have at least 350 recurring paid subscribers for three consecutive months. Some restrictions here include the fact that gifted subs do not count towards this requirement nor do Prime subscriptions.

Partner Plus begins October 1, which means you will need to meet the eligibility requirements from July through September.

While this all sounds good on paper, this seems to be right in line with what Twitch said they were going to do back in 2022. Only now, this Partner Plus program may open the doors to more streamers getting access to the 70/30 split that were previously permanently locked to 50/50. It's a win for streamers, but not a huge one.
