Well, almost everything.

Hideo Kojima took to Twitter to reveal the long, long list of departments he will be personally involved with for the upcoming Death Stranding film. The list seems to include most every key area of behind the scenes action except for one big one: Director.

According to Kojima's tweet, he will be involved in producing, supervising, plotting, look, design, and the content of the Death Stranding film. He will not, according to his words, be in charge of directing. There is also no word as to whether or not Kojima will have any sort of an acting cameo in the film. The game creator doesn't shy away from self-inserts throughout most of his releases, so it wouldn't be too shocking to see him pop up in the film as well.

Kojima opting not to direct the Death Stranding film adaptation is actually quite surprising given his history. As a self-proclaimed film buff, Kojima often talks about films on social media and shows off countless photos of new films he just purchased or movies he is going to see in theaters. It's even more surprising to learn he isn't directing given that the film is being made by his own studio, Kojima Productions, alongside Hammerstone Studios. Plus, anybody who has ever played Metal Gear Solid 4 knows that Kojima loves to direct feature-length cutscenes already.

Announced in December 2022, the Death Stranding film still remains a bit of a mystery at present. All we know is that the film will "introduce new elements and characters within the Death Stranding universe."

A game sequel, Death Stranding 2, was also announced as being in development for PlayStation 5. It was revealed during 2022's Game Awards.
