The Knuckles series is getting even more substantial star power.
Cary Elwes from Robin Hood: Men in Tights

Paramount+ and Sega are really going whole (hedge)hog on the casting for its upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog spinoff series, Knuckles. We already know that Idris Elba is voicing Knuckles, just as he did for Sonic the Hedgehog 2.

Now, we're hearing that Cary Elwes (Saw, The Princess Bride, Robin Hood: Men in Tights) and Christopher Lloyd (Back to the Future, The Addams Family, Who Framed Roger Rabbit) are joining the cast of Knuckles. They will also be joined by Stockard Channing, Paul Scheer, and Rob Huebel. So far, we don't yet know what roles any of them will play in the Paramount+ series.

At present, Knuckles does not yet have a release date. We online that it takes place between Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (April 2023) and Sonic the Hedgehog 3, which is expected to be out in late December 2024. Like the films, Knuckles will be a live-action series. It follows the echidna on a "journey of self-discovery." Knuckles also agrees to "train Wade (Adam Pally) as his protégé and teach him the ways of the echidna warrior."

The first episode of Knuckles will be directed by Jeff Fowler, who directed both Sonic films. The writing will be led by John Whittington, who also worked on the script for Sonic the Hedgehog 2. Idris Elba, beyond voicing Knuckles, will also be an executive producer on the series.
