DICE is already getting their banhammer ready for Battlefield 2042. In a new blog post that went up today, the studio laid out a bunch of new anti-toxic player policies and anti-cheat measures that they hope will result in a positive play environment.

Part of DICE's commitment to this whole idea includes the ability to report players through an in-game menu. This has started to become more and more typical for multiplayer games like Battlefield 2042. However, DICE will also allow the person reporting to add in an additional comment if desired.

Reasons for reporting can be seen here:
    • Abusive Text Chat
    • Abusive Voice Chat
    • Cheating/Exploiting
    • Gameplay Sabotage
    • Offensive Player Name
    • Harassment
The studio says that there will be a couple of things that happen after you report someone. First, you will be informed in-game that they received your report. Secondly, if an action is taken against a player based on your report, you will be informed via email that action was taken on the person you reported. They specify that this applies to people you reported for cheating, but I have to assume this means any actioned report will also be informed via email.

DICE also said that they will have a zero tolerance policy for people who are caught cheating. There will be no warnings. There will be no second chances. If you are caught cheating, then that's it, you are banned for good.

To keep our community a fair place, we have a no tolerance rule in place. There are no warnings and no suspensions when it comes to cheating. If you don’t play by the rules, you’re out.
Of course, Battlefield 2042 will utilize Easy Anti-Cheat, the free anti-cheat service that maybe isn't the best option out there. But then again, no anti-cheat is perfect so something is almost definitely better than nothing. Due to the fact that Battlefield 2042 will have crossplay functionality, this presumably means that if you are banned for cheating on PC, you're also banned from playing on other platforms as well.

DICE says that anti-cheat will be enabled during the upcoming Battlefield 2042 open beta that runs from October 6-10. The studio also mentions that they are already looking into upgrading their anti-cheat tools for the future.

Lastly, ensuring Fair Play and combating modern cheating solutions is an ongoing commitment that doesn’t end at launch. While not always visible to you as a player, this means that post launch we’ll continue to invest in developing internal capabilities and technologies that augment 3rd party anti-cheat solutions, provide multiple layers of defense, and ensure our games are fair and fun for everyone.

Battlefield 2042 to Utilize New EA Anticheat in Season 6
      by Shawn Zipay
A new anti-cheat has entered the battlefield.

Electronic Arts just announced that they are working on implementing their own anti-cheat (or anticheat), into their current and upcoming multiplayer titles. Much like the simply named EA app, EA's new anticheat is called EA anticheat. Yes, that lack of capitalization is correct and slightly frustrating to look at.

The Battlefield 2042 team at DICE says that come the launch of Season 6 in October, the game will switch over...

Battlefield 2042 Review: A Battlefield in Ruins
      by Shawn Zipay
Battlefield 2042 is a shallow, feature-lacking mess of a game that appeals to neither long-time franchise fans nor newcomers.

The release of Battlefield 2042 on November 19th should have been a joyous occasion for fans of the franchise. Instead, what the world received was a broken mess of a game that has long-standing "legacy" features removed, barren maps, and a tone that was often at odds with itself. Even after receiving three major post-launch updates, there is very...

Helicopters about to be a whole lot more annoying.

If you thought taking down helicopters, especially the stealth choppers, were a pain in the ass before just you wait for Update 5.0.0 to drop for Battlefield 2042.

Update 5.0.0 for Battlefield 2042 will arrive on Wednesday alongside the launch of Season 5 for the game. This (presumably) last season for Battlefield 2042 is set to add a new map, Reclaimed, along with new weapons, gadgets, a 100-tier Battle Pass, quality...
