DICE and EA finally lifted the lid on information concerning the upcoming open beta for Battlefield 2042. It has been a long time coming and it's great to finally get some news about this. I know the fanbase has been getting a little, let's just say antsy, with each day that passed by where we did not hear anything.

In the latest Battlefield Briefing, the team announced that the Beta for Battlefield 2042 will run from October 6 through October 9. Specifically, early access to the beta (for those that pre-ordered), begins on October 6 at 3AM (ET). The open beta begins on October 8, also at 3AM (ET). The entire thing comes to an end on October 10 at, you guessed it, 3AM (ET).

Interestingly, the beta will be played on the same map as the previous technical test. That map being Orbital. Once again, players will get to choose from just four Specialists in this beta: Boris, Caper, Falck, and Mackay.

DICE says that they have "pre-unlocked a wide selection of hardware (weapons, vehicles, and gadgets) for you, and let you make the most of the time you'll have with the Open Beta." Furthermore, you will get a "sense" of the team's approaches to things like Progression and Cosmetics in Battlefield 2042. This means you will get a look at how much XP you'll be earning and the ways in which you'll be able to earn it in gameplay. We will also see the return of Ribbons and new features like the Player Card.

We will have additional information on Progression and the Player Card in a separate piece here.

After a recent delay announcement, Battlefield 2042 will be released on November 19, 2021.
