Years ago, Nvidia said that they planned to move over every option and feature from their old Nvidia Control Panel into the new Nvidia App. It may have taken a bit of time, but that day is now here. As of the new 610.47 driver update, all Control Panel functionality has been integrated into the Nvidia App.
The new driver update is paired with an update to the Nvidia App. Nvidia says that "all actively supported Nvidia Control Panel features for GeForce users have been modernized and transitioned to the new client." This move comes after 20 years of using the Nvidia Control Panel. Only those users using Nvidia RTX PRO will continue to have Nvidia Control Panel support, but only until such a time that Nvidia fully migrates over the professional features into the Nvidia App.
The Nvidia Control Panel will remain installed on your computer up until the point that a clean driver install is completed. Even then, Nvidia says that if you absolutely need the Control Panel for whatever reason, it will remain available to download through the Microsoft Store. Just do not expect to see any new features or fixes from this day forward.
Most of the Control Panel features were ported into the Nvidia App a year prior. Nvidia does not specify what the last bits of functionality were that needed to be ported over to officially retire the Control Panel. For months now it seems like every major feature that most users would use was already included within the Nvidia App itself.
The new 610.47 driver is geared towards new releases such as 007 First Light, LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, and more.
