As proof that Sony has not forgotten nor abandoned Bloodborne, they were happy to announce the new Bloodborne content fans have been eager for: An animated feature film. Shortly after 11 PM ET on April 13, an announcement went out from Sony Pictures and PlayStation Productions that a Bloodborne animated film is in the works.
The animated feature film is aiming for an R-rating and will have Sean "Jacksepticeye" McLoughlin joining as producer. McLoughlin will be joined by PlayStation Productions and Lyrical Animation on the project.
Bloodborne, the film not the game, was announced during Sony Pictures' CinemaCon via Sony Pictures Entertainment Motion Picture Group president, Sanford Panitch. The film will allegedly be "'very true' to the gory spirit of 'Bloodborne'," at least according to comments shared by Variety.
As most of you reading this already know, Bloodborne was developed by FromSoftware and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment for the PlayStation 4. It is on the PlayStation 4 that Bloodborne remains still. While playable on PlayStation 5 hardware, no update was ever released to improve performance, visuals, or loading on Sony's more powerful console despite the relentless begging from fans. There have also been no official releases of Bloodborne on any other platform, such as PC, also despite the relentless begging from fans.
But hey, you get an animated film. That's good, right?
