Elden Ring Director to Continue Making Difficult Games

Hidetaka Miyazaki says that it's FromSoftware's "identity."

If you don't know the name Hidetaka Miyazaki, it may be because you aren't a fan of the challenging games that he creates. Miyazaki is the Japanese game director and executive at FromSoftware and is responsible for the creation of the Souls series, Bloodborne, Sekiro, and the recently released Elden Ring.

While there is certainly an argument to be made for difficult games to be made more accessible to...

    Review: Elden Ring (PC)

FromSoftware's largest and most ambitious title is also its best yet.

Every once in a while, there exists a piece of media that really gets the public excited. You see it all the time with new movie releases. You see it often with new music releases. And, of course, you see it with new video game releases. Given how many message board discussions, social media posts, Reddit posts, and the like I have seen for Elden Ring, I think it's safe to say that hype levels for FromSoftware's...

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice Revealed by FromSoftware

The mysterious new IP teased by FromSoftware last year, Shadows Die Twice, now has a full name and a full trailer reveal courtesy of Microsoft's E3 2018 conference earlier this week. The game is called Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice and we'll say this right now: It's not Dark Souls and it's not Bloodborne. It's still an action-RPG though. Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is slated to be released for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. Since Microsoft provided the world premiere look at the game...

    Review: Vampyr (PC)

    Interview with a vampire.
Please do not adjust your monitors or television sets. I did not misspell "Vampire" for the title. The game is actually entitled Vampyr and it is a legitimate spelling of the name given to the undead blood suckers we have all come to know and sometimes even love. Vampyr, the game, is a new entry in the sometimes too saturated action-RPG genre. And while it does indeed share a lot of similarities with other games in the genre like Bloodborne, , and even...

Players Finally Discover Bloodborne Enemy First Seen Three Years Ago at PSX

At 2014's PlayStation Experience, some new footage for Bloodborne was shown off. At the time, the game was still about four months out from release. The enemy that was shown off was this massive creature that had a very distinct arm that glowed red hot with heat. This elusive Chalice Dungeon enemy, the "Flaming Undead Giant," has seemingly gone undiscovered, perhaps thought lost to the cutting room floor as content sometimes is. Fast-forward to 2017 and a remarkable discovery was made: T...

Op-Ed: Best of Gaming in 2015

A funny thing happened the other day. I had a nicely compiled list of "best of" items for 2015 in an Excel sheet. Problem is, I made that Excel sheet back in November and only planned to adjust it a bit just prior to writing up my article, the thing you're reading right now. Well, it disappeared. I don't know where it went. So, this is what I'm going to do. I'm going to half-ass the hell out of this. I'm going to simply make a list of games I enjoyed throughout the year based on their release mon...
