Hot on the heels of yesterday's announcement of Ryan Hurst playing Kratos in the Prime Video God of War show, comes word that Teresa Palmer will portray the character of Sif.
Teresa Palmer is perhaps best known for her work on the film Warm Bodies and the television show A Discovery of Witches. News of Palmer being hired for the God of War live-action television show was first shared by Deadline.
In the God of War show for Prime Video, Palmer will play Sif, the Norse Goddess of several things such as wheat, grain, harvest, earth, family, and beauty. In the 2022 video game, God of War Ragnarök, Sif is married to Thor and is the mother to a daughter, Thrúd. Sif is the step-mom to Magni and Modi, and the daughter-in-law to Odin. Sif is the sister-in-law to Baldur. All of these characters have prominent roles throughout both 2018's God of War and 2022's God of War Ragnarök.
You may have seen some news outlets, including Deadline themselves, saying that Palmer will also play a character named Phoebe. From what I have gathered, Phoebe is the alias name given during the casting call for the God of War TV series in order to hide the actual names of the characters. It's either that, or Palmer will also portray the Greek Titaness, Phoebe, in some sort of a flashback sequence in the show. Given that Phoebe, the Titaness, was never in the God of War games, I'd say it's more likely that the "Phoebe" you're seeing is only because of the casting call alias.
