  • Ryan Hurst Set to Portray Kratos in Live Action God of War Show

Hurst played Thor in God of War Ragnarok.
Actor Ryan Hurst, hired to portray a live-action Kratos, next to a digital version of Kratos from the 2018 and newer God of War games.

Amazon MGM Studios and Sony Pictures Television jointly announced that they have found their Kratos for the upcoming Prime Video God of War live-action show.

The two studios announced that God of War Ragnarok actor, Ryan Hurst, will play Kratos in the television show. Hurst played Thor in 2022's God of War Ragnarok.

Additional details on this live-action adaptation of God of War are scarce. The only official information comes direct from the Prime Video God of War page, which says that the show will take after the 2018 reboot rather than the older titles.

God of War follows father and son Kratos and Atreus as they embark on a journey to spread the ashes of their wife and mother, Faye. Through their adventures, Kratos tries to teach his son to be a better god, while Atreus tries to teach his father how to be a better human.
The first two episodes of God of War will be directed by Frederick E.O. Toye (The Boys, Fallout). Ronald D. Moore will be the showrunner, executive producer, and writer. Cory Barlog from God of War development studio Sony Santa Monica, will be one of the many other executive producers on the show.

Besides playing Thor in Ragnarok, Hurst was Opie in the Sons of Anarchy show and Beta in The Walking Dead. Hurst also had prominent roles in Remember the Titans, The Ladykillers, and We Were Soldiers.
