Another casing confirmation was just made today for the upcoming God of War television show. Amazon and Sony announced that Callum Vinson will portray Atreus, the son of Kratos and Faye, in the upcoming Prime Video television series.
Vinson will join up with Ryan Hurst's Kratos in the Norse mythology focused series whenever it is that this series ends up getting released. Vinson is already no stranger to acting. He recently just wrapped up portraying a young Jason Voorhees in an upcoming Friday the 13th spinoff series, Crystal Lake. He also starred as Piglet in two different Winnie the Pooh television series, and can also be found in the Chucky TV series, Poker Face, and more.
Amazon's character page for Atreus mentions that he is 10-years-old during the events of the show. It also talks briefly about how the character was largely isolated from the rest of the world and was raised almost entirely by his mother, Faye.
He is an accomplished archer, has an affinity for animals, and is intensely curious about what lies beyond the confines of his forest home. After his mother’s death, Atreus is left with a cold, distant father who he barely knows and who knows little about him in return. Nonetheless, Atreus yearns for his father’s approval and is desperate to prove he is strong enough to survive in a harsh and dangerous world.
Fans of the games will be quick to note that there are still some glaring omissions from the cast list. These include the characters of Baldur and Freya. Some other characters that may also appear in the television series include Modi and Magni, with characters such as Zeus and Athena being remote possibilities.
