If you plunked down the extra cash for the Deluxe version of Cronos: The New Dawn, you can play the game right now ahead of its "official" release on September 5th. The extra $10 cost brings that total to just $69.99, at least on Steam, which is the going base rate for most games these days anyway. The regular version, releasing in two days, is just $59.99 (again, at least through Steam).
Cronos: The New Dawn is a new survival horror game from Bloober Team, and the studio's first game since they developed the stellar Silent Hill 2 remake. It's also their first original release since 2023's Layers of Fear and 2022's The Medium.
Reviews for Cronos: The New Dawn seem to be quite strong, holding a 78% on OpenCritic with 76% of all critics recommending the game. Most reviews seem to praise the "intriguing narrative," good amount of tension, and the fact that gameplay elements still feel somewhat unique despite obviously being inspired by games such as Dead Space and Resident Evil. On the negative side, reviewers said that some of the combat encounters can be a bit too challenging given the scarcity of resources and very limited inventory space. They also note that the combat, in general, was passable but nothing special.
Bloober Team did release a launch trailer today, which you can presumably find below. Also below you can read a bit about Cronos, as well as information regarding the upcoming official launch and physical release.
A Bold New Chapter in Survival Horror
From the acclaimed developers of the SILENT HILL 2 remake, Bloober Team presents Cronos: The New Dawn — a third-person survival horror experience like no other. Set in the haunting ruins of New Dawn, a world inspired by Nowa Huta, a real historical district in Kraków, Poland, the game unfolds across two timelines: a post-apocalyptic future decaying in despair, and the gritty, industrial 1980s reality. This powerful duality blends retro realism, dystopian sci-fi, and a retro-futuristic atmosphere to create a deeply immersive world filled with tension, mystery, and terror.
Early Access Begins — Step into the Ruins
Bloober Team invites players to descend into the unforgiving world of New Dawn with the launch of early access today for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Step into the hunting suit of The Traveler — an enigmatic agent of the Collective, sent into zones scarred by the Change, a cataclysmic event that shattered time, memory, and flesh. What remains is a world suspended between past and future — haunted, hostile, and unravelling. Survival is anything but certain.
Cross-Platform Digital Launch Sept. 5 with Physical Editions Coming Soon
The game will officially launch digitally across all platforms, including the Nintendo Switch 2 system, on Sept. 5 at 7 a.m. PT / 10 a.m. ET / 4 p.m. CEST.
