Nvidia and ModDB recently held their RTX Remix Mod Contest, where mod makers competed for a slice of a $50,000 prize pool. This contest tasked mod makers to remaster classic PC titles with new RTX tech by using Nvidia RTX Remix.
The competition saw a couple dozen entries but only four were able to claim some form of victory in this contest. Painkiller RTX Remix was the overall top winner. It won Best Overall Remix Mod, Best Use of RTX, and Most Complete RTX Experience. For taking home the Best Overall Remix Mod, the team at Merry Pencil Studios won $20,000. For Best Use of RTX, they took home an additional $10,000. For earning the Most Complete RTX Experience, they took yet another $10,000 of the prize winnings.
Nvidia released a video, seen below, that offers a look at the winners and runners-up.
Other winners include: Call of Duty 2 Remixed (Community Choice Award), Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines RTX (Best Use of RTX), and I-Ninja Remixed (Most Complete RTX Experience). These winners and runner-ups won between $10,000 and $5,000 plus 6 months of GeForce NOW Ultimate.
The full list of all entrants can be found on ModDB. The winners and basically all remixes can be downloaded through ModDB, allowing you to experience the enhanced visual experiences for yourself right now. Some amazing Remix mods that didn't take home a win include Unreal RTX, Black Mesa Remix, Portal 2 RTX, Need for Speed: Underground RTX Remix, and Fallout: New Vegas RTX.
It should be noted that not all of the entries are complete. Some may only have basic RTX implementations included. Others may only feature RTX on small slices of games.
Beyond the games that entered the competition, there are many, many other RTX Remix mods available on ModDB. Many of these are works in progress. For instance, you can check out Max Payne: Remix, BioShock RTX, Dark Messiah: RTX, and several others.
