Mafia: The Old Country has officially been released by Hangar 13 and 2K. Now, this press release says that it came out today, which is August 8, 2025. However, I'm pretty sure it was out yesterday on the 7th for most of the world.
Whatever the case is, Mafia: The Old World is officially out now for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam. This is the first new Mafia game since the 2016 release of Mafia 3. This one serves as a prequel to the first Mafia game and takes you back in time to 1900s Sicily.
This new Mafia game explores the "roots of organized crime." You will play as Enzo Favara, working hard to prove your worth to Don Torrisi's family. Like the previous games, this one is still a third-person action-adventure title.
Reviews for Mafia: The Old Country seem rather positive, with an average score of 77% on OpenCritic. I did hear that the game is somewhat short at about 12 hours for a casual playthrough. Still, the game is also only $50. From what I've played of it so far, it has much more in common with Mafia 1 and Mafia 2. It's far more focused and straightforward than Mafia 3 thankfully.
