CD Projekt Red made a new announcement at this year's Anime Expo. The game development studio will once again be partnering with studio Trigger to create a new standalone anime series set in the world of Cyberpunk 2077. It is called, of course, none other than Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2.
Today's panel at Anime Expo shared a few early details about this second series. Kai Ikarashi is confirmed to be the director. We also got a look at the show's logo and some poster art. The panel in which this was revealed included Hugo Award-winning writer Bartosz Sztybor, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners director Hiroyuki Imaishi, voice actor Emi Lo (Lucy Kushinada), and voice actor Zach Aguilar (David Martinez).
Sztybor shared some remarks about this new series.
David’s story might be over, but there’s plenty more to discover in Night City. And to again have the legendary animation studio TRIGGER along for the ride makes us at CD PROJEKT RED so excited to introduce a raw, real chronicle of redemption and revenge, something unlike what we’ve done before.
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 will once again air on Netflix when it's ready.
