It's a pretty big day for Destiny 2 players, as the game offers up the trifecta of new content and events. First up, Act 2 of Destiny 2: Heresy just went live and with it comes new activities, new story, new Heretical Arsenal weapons, new artifact mods, and more. Also live today is the start of the annual Guardian Games and the continuation of the Moments of Triumph events.
Act 2 of Heresy introduces the Court of Blades, a three-player activity that "challenges players to battle through escalating waves of enemies in a fight for the throne of the Taken King." This event is said to be inspired by the Court of Oryx from the original Destiny. There are rune-based mechanics that will "allow players to enhance their playstyles and tackle increasingly difficult encounters."
The Guardian Games is also live now. This is where Warlocks, Titans, and Hunters compete against each other across a variety of challenges. This year a new activity, Rushdown, has been added to help you score big for your preferred class. This is a boss rush-style activity that includes challenging encounters from Destiny 2 campaign missions, Seasonal story missions, and Exotic missions. It includes escalating difficulty and three distinct modes. Those that complete at least three encounters in any mode guarantees a Guardian Games weapon drop. Those who complete the Expert mode will get a chance to earn fully Masterworked Guardian Games weapons.
Moments of Triumph also continues this week. I believe it actually kicked off a week ago now. This annual event celebrates your accomplishments throughout the year of The Final Shape. This event is open to everyone. All you need to do to earn progress is to complete Triumphs across a variety of activities. Doing so will get you some exclusive rewards and the MMXXIV Title. Several physical rewards will also unlock by completing in-game challenges. This includes the ability to purchase this year's Moments of Triumph shirt, pin, and MMXXIV Title pin from the Bungie Store.
Bungie says that Act 3 of Destiny 2: Heresy will begin on April 1. Coming with Act 3 will be the addition of the Rite of the Nine event that will offer "unique twists on dungeon delving, rewarding challenges with refreshed dungeon weapons with a striking Nine-inspired look."
Today's launch of Act 2 also came with the new 8.2.5 update for all players.
