The latest Ubisoft financials were shared to the public today and with it comes some very interesting news. We also learned today that Ubisoft is delaying the release date of Assassin's Creed Shadows by about four months. This places its new release date at February 14, 2025.
In a social media post, Ubisoft says that they want to take these extra months to "polish and refine the experience" as well as "pushing further some of our key features."
On the flip side of this delay news is the announcement that Ubisoft will be releasing Assassin's Creed Shadows on Steam also on February 14, 2025. According to Ubisoft's new financial report, Assassin's Creed Shadows "will mark the return of our new releases on Steam Day 1."
As a result of this delay and Steam release announcement, Ubisoft is issuing refunds on existing pre-orders for the game. Furthermore, Ubisoft says that all future pre-orders "will be granted the first expansion for free." Ubisoft also says that they "are departing from the traditional Season Pass model." It's not entirely clear what they meant by this.
While Assassin's Creed Shadows is set to release on Steam at the same time as other platforms, a public facing Steam Store page for the game is not yet live.
