It looks like the promised offline mode for Redfall will be delivered after all. Despite Microsoft deciding to shutdown Arkane Austin, the studio will get one more update out for their vampire slaying action game.
The update was essentially in its home stretch of completion when Microsoft shutdown Arkane Austin along with Tango Gameworks and Alpha Dog Games. When the shutdown was announced, it was believed that the update wouldn't see the light of day. Fortunately, whomever is still at Arkane Austin is making sure that this last patch makes it out to the fans.
The official Redfall Twitter account came to life again on Friday, May 17 to announce that they are still working on getting the final update released. They say that this update, Game Update 4, will bring "revamped Neighborhood and Nest systems, Single Player Pausing, Offline Mode, and more." They note that there will be additional details shared soon.
As for the planned Redfall DLC, it will not be released. Instead, those that purchased the DLC pass or Bite Back Edition for Redfall will get some form of compensation. It has not yet been announced what that compensation will be.
