Plus new balance changes, optimizations, and more.
Top-down view of a hacker at her messy desk.

The 1.2 update for the PC version of the stellar System Shock remake was just released. This update includes a new female hacker protagonist option, an expanded ending, balancing changes, various optimizations, and more.

Enemy AI has been given a few adjustments with this update. Nightdive Studios say that they have added new attacks and behaviors to the enemies. A new waypoint system was also added as part of System Shock's easy mission difficulty mode.

Also of note is the fact that the entirety of the final boss fight has been reworked. Nightdive says that they have added in new mechanics and "a unique flow" to this fight. Fans of the game have been rather vocal about the original boss fight being a major sore spot in an otherwise great remake.

Those still waiting for the console release of System Shock will be happy to hear that all of the content and improvements added in this 1.2 PC update will be included in that release right at the start. The console release will be out on May 21.
