Visual Concepts, 2K, and WWE just announced WWE 2K24, the latest installment of their mostly annual wrestling franchise. None other than "The American Nightmare" Cody Rhodes will be featured as the star athlete for the game, at least on the cover of the Standard Edition. For the Deluxe Edition cover both Bianca Belair and Rhea Ripley will grace the cover.
WWE 2K24 is currently set to arrive on March 5, 2024, though 2K says it's actually coming out on March 8th. However, only those that buy the Deluxe Edition or Forty Years of WrestleMania Edition will get it on March 5th. Everyone else will get it on March 8th.
Just as has been the case for the past handful of releases, WWE 2K24 is still a cross-gen title. It has now been four years since the release of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S but cross-gen is still very much a thing. WWE 2K24 is set to release on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.
The studios behind WWE 2K24 claim that there are "several franchise advancements" in this upcoming release. For instance, the "2K Showcase...of the Immortals" will feature four new match types such as Ambulance and Special Guest Referee. There will be two new MyRISE experience in addition to those other additions.
There will apparently be a roster of "more than 200 WWE Superstars and Legends". Some of these stars and legends include the likes of Andre the Giant, Roman Reigns, Becky Lynch, Batista, Kurt Angle, Asuka, Bret Hart, Brock Lesnar, Randy Savage, Chyna, and many more.
Visual Concepts is also claiming that they have updated over 90% of the facial expressions. They also boast "incredibly realistic graphics and improved animations." Camera work has also been improved across the board, from ramp and dive cameras, to the ability to actually move the camera during live gameplay.
