The need for upscaling is becoming the norm for PC releases.

Remedy Entertainment released the PC system requirements for Alan Wake 2 via Twitter. Like several games released this year, Alan Wake 2 will also need some beefy hardware to even run the game on Low settings, 1080p resolution, and a whopping 30FPS. Hold onto your butts, because we're again looking at a game that is sure to receive several complaints about not being optimized.

At a bare minimum, you will need an RTX 2060 or Radeon RX 6600 GPU, an Intel i5-7600K "or AMD equivalent", along with 16GB of RAM, and 90GB of free space on an SSD. The requirements also necessitate the use of Nvidia's DLSS or AMD's FSR2 upscaling technologies across all recommendations. Even on those bare minimum requirements, Remedy says you will need to run DLSS or FSR2 on Quality to get those sick 1080p, 30FPS visuals.

On the upper end, you will need at least an RTX 3070 to run with low ray tracing. Even then, this is for just 1080p and 30FPS gameplay.

Ouch.
