Those purchasing a copy of Marvel's Spider-Man 2 from your local brick and mortar store will be happy to hear that there is an actual disc included inside the box. Not only that, but that disc includes the full game and you could, in theory, play the entire game from start to finish without having to download any updates.
However, developer Insomniac Games says that they "highly encourage" players that purchase the physical version to download and install the 1.001.002 patch before playing. Insomniac only offered vague explanations as to what this patch does, but says that it provides "general refinements" along with polishing the game's opening, and adding additional accessibility options.
Those that purchased and download the digital version will already have this patch included in their pre-load.
Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is out on October 20th for the PlayStation 5. The game sits at a 91% average review score at OpenCritic with 100% of critics recommending the game.
