  • BattleBit Remastered to Deliver a True Battlefield Experience in June

A final pre-release playtest is also coming in June.

There is some exciting news today from OkiGames Ltd., the three-person team that has been working on BattleBit Remastered. After months (years really) of development, playtests, and updates, BattleBit Remastered is expected to release into Steam Early Access this June.

An exact day in June for the Early Access release was not yet disclosed, but we do know that there will be one final pre-release playtest that kicks off on June 9th and ends on the 11th. This will be your final chance to try BattleBit Remastered for free before its Early Access release, because once it's out on Steam Early Access you will need to spend $15 to purchase the game.

If you don't already know what BattleBit Remastered is, OkiGames Ltd. describes the game as a "low poly combined arms, class-based first-person shooter that provides a massively multiplayer experience." That is to say: BattleBit Remastered is a lot like the Battlefield games but with low-poly visuals. Not only that, but it's good. It's really good.

Battlebit Remastered will launch with game modes that include Conquest, Rush, Team Deathmatch, Domination, and more. Each game can support up to 254 players, with official servers offering you a choice of 32v32, 64v64, and 127v127 matches.

BattleBit Remastered will launch into Early Access with the following content and features:
    • Multiplayer battles with up to 254 players
    • Highly destructible environments
    • Customizable classes, characters, and loadouts
    • 38+ weapons
    • 17+ maps
    • Game modes such as: Conquest, Rush, Team Deathmatch
    • Team, Squad, and Proximity voice chat
    • Progression-based unlocks with Prestige System
    • FACEIT Anti-Cheat for official servers & rented servers
    • Easy Anti-Cheat for self-hosted community servers
    • Dedicated moderation team and support systems
    • Content updates planned throughout Early Access and beyond
Thanks to the low-poly visuals in BattleBit Remastered, you also don't need a super beefy PC to play the game, even with the 254-player battles. The system requirements are as follow:
    • OS: Windows 10 or later
    • CPU: Intel Core i5-4460 or AMD Ryzen 5 1500X
    • RAM: 8GB
    • GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 970 or AMD Radeon RX 580
    • Storage: 10GB
The team at OkiGames also shared a few additional pieces of information by way of a brief Early Access FAQ. For instance, those that participated in the playtests will have their progress wiped for the launch of Early Access. The only thing that will carry over is created Clans.

They also note that BattleBit Remastered will have no microtransactions. They flatly say that "game content is unlocked through play via in-game progression systems."

Also, BattleBit Remastered is only coming to PC. At present, OkiGames has "no plans for console at this time."

On a personal note, my friends and I have joined in on several of the playtest sessions across several different weeks. The game is incredibly good! If you like the whole "Battlefield" experience at all, you're going to love this game. This is especially true if you like the "Battlefield" experience but maybe came away from Battlefield 2042 a bit disappointed, then you really should check out Battlebit Remastered.
