The Tears sure aren't flowing at Nintendo.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has quickly become the fastest selling Zelda title in the Americas. In just three days since its release on the Nintendo Switch, Tears of the Kingdom sold 4 million copies in the Americas and a staggering 10 million copies globally.

To compare to other big Nintendo Switch releases, Breath of the Wild has sold 30 million copies in six years. The best selling Switch title is Mario Kart 8 at 53 million copies sold in its entire lifetime. In addition to becoming the fastest-selling Zelda title, Tears of the Kingdom is the fastest-selling Switch game to date.

The impressive sales figures probably stem from the fact that Tears of the Kingdom was easily one of the most anticipated Zelda titles. Strong sales of Breath of the Wild and great word of mouth really helped out. Another contributing factor here is the fact that Tears of the Kingdom has received stellar reviews from almost all critics, currently sitting at a 97% average score.
