  • Bungie is Increasing the Price of Destiny 2's Seasons

Bad news for those who buy each Season individually.
A person standinb before a giant underwater window looking at three Guardians from Destiny 2. Behind them in the water is a gigantic eyeball presumably from some sort of sea creature.

In their latest edition of This Week at Bungie, the studio behind Destiny 2 announces a price increase coming for standalone Season purchases. These Seasons, when purchased either on their own or as part of each expansion release, allows players access to limited-time activities and story content roughly every three months.

Starting with Season of the Deep, expected to go live on May 23, 2023, each Season Pass will go from 1,000 Silver to 1,200 Silver. This is equal to a jump from $10 (USD) to $12. If you opt for the Season Pass + 10 Rank Bundle (instant +10 ranks for the Season Pass), the price goes from 2,000 Silver to 2,200 Silver or $20 to $22.

Prices for those that purchased the full year of season access via the Deluxe releases of expansions will not see any further price increases as a result of this.

Bungie stopped well short of offering any sort of explanation for the price increase, instead saying that they will be "evaluating new approaches to post-launch content in the year of The Final Shape." The Final Shape being the name of Destiny 2's next expansion, which will be released in 2024. Why increase the price of each Season now then if some of these post-launch content changes won't even be seen until next year? That's a good question that there is not yet an answer to.

Destiny 2 players aren't exactly thrilled with this price increase, as is to be expected. Their main issue stems from the fact that you used to be able to purchase a bundle of 1,000 Silver (plus 100 bonus) for $10. The next Silver bundle above that is 2,000 Silver (plus 300 bonus), which is $20. There is no way to purchase exactly 1,200 Silver.

Previously, if you wanted to buy a specific Season, you would only need to spend $10. Now, you either have to spend $20 for the 2,000 Silver bundle or $15 to purchase both 1,000 Silver and a 500 Silver bundles to cover the increased cost of each Season. For many, that $2 price increase is now a $5 or even a $10 price increase.

Like the first game, we're left wanting more.

When Destiny first launched in late 2014, it was something special, almost magical. Bungie and Activision created a new franchise that let players explore parts of our Solar System from their couches, forge new friendships, take down massive enemies, and feel akin to comic book superheroes. However, that game was not without its faults. At launch, the game lacked much in the way of in-game story, opting instead to send the...

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Season 3 Released
      by Shawn Zipay
New maps, modes, weapons, and more.

Season 3 just launched for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. Today's new update includes new content for essentially all of the game's many game modes from maps, weapons, entirely new modes for multiplayer, new Operators, new events, new customization options, and much more.

Apparently this Season for Modern Warfare 3 will include a new Blaze Up event, which I'm going to assume begins around April 20th for some reason. There is also...
