After about four years of Early Access, Barotrauma is finally out as a full-fledged release on Steam. The sci-fi submarine adventure have a new cinematic trailer available for you to view today if you aren't sure about what this game is about just yet.
In Barotrauma, players can go in alone or team up with others (up to 16 players per game) to explore the depths of Europa, one of Jupiter's moons. Players are tasked with undertaking a variety of missions and, in general, just trying to survive. FakeFish and Undertow Games have released a bunch of updates and content for Barotrauma since its initial release into Early Access back in 2019. A sample of the improvements made over the years include a complete overhaul of the campaign, tutorials, improved graphics and environments, new monsters, new missions and outposts, added a scripted event system, and more.
Levels are procedurally generated, there are some rather crazy ragdoll physics, and the game features full mod support. There's a lot to like here. Multiplayer can be fully cooperative or you can turn on "traitor mode" that will turn some of play pals into "secret conspirators, complete with their own individual missions like assassination or sabotage."
It looks like Barotrauma has a launch week discount of 25% off bringing the regular $34.99 (USD) price down to $26.24.
