That's a lot of connected strands.
Death Stranding 10 million players

Kojima Productions announced that since its release in November 2019, over 10 million people have picked up and played some amount of Death Stranding. This milestone comes about just as the game is celebrating its third anniversary since it was initially released on the PlayStation 4.

After spending some time as a PS4 exclusive, Death Stranding eventually found its way to the PC in mid-2020. In September 2021 Death Stranding Director's Cut was released on PC, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. In August of 2022, the final "release" of the game happened when Death Stranding released on PC Game Pass.

This 10 million player figure does include those that played through services like PlayStation Plus and Game Pass. The last player count we were given for Death Stranding came in July 2021 when it was said that the game had sold 5 million copies. Doubling your player count in a year for a game that came out a few years prior is still rather impressive.

As far as Kojima Productions is concerned, the studio is currently working on an exclusive project for Xbox. The studio is also working on a horror game, possibly named Overdose, that could be the focus of what Hideo Kojima himself has been teasing for months now. This new game, be it Overdose or something else, looks to star actors such as Elle Fanning and Shioli Kutsuna. A sequel to Death Stranding seems to also be in the cards according to a leak by actor Norman Reedus.
