Death Stranding

Norman Reedus is a fairly well-known actor with credits that include The Walking Dead, The Boondock Saints, and even Blade 2. He is also known amongst the gaming community for playing the main character, Sam Bridges, in Death Stranding. While he isn't busy acting, he's busy conducting interviews, and this is where today's story picks up.

In a new interview with Leo Edit, Reedus seemingly confirmed that a sequel to Death Stranding is in development. He flatly says, "We just started the second one."

Here is the full context for how this response came about, plus some additional details.

Okay, so you got the book going on, you’ve got the final season coming out, then the spinoff, and you’re filming Death Stranding, the video game.

We just started the second one.

How did that come about?

Guillermo Del Toro, who gave me my first movie, called me up and said, “Hey, there’s a guy named Hideo Kojima, he’s gonna call you, just say yes.” And I go, “What do you mean just say yes?” He goes, “Stop being an asshole, just say yes.” Then I was in San Diego and Hideo came with a big group of people, he’s from Tokyo, and he showed me what he was working on on a game called Silent Hill. I was blown away by what he was showing me, and I was like, “Yes, let’s do this.” It’s not Ms. Pacman; it’s so realistic, it’s so futuristic, it’s so complicated and beautiful, and I was completely blown away.

It took me maybe two or three years to finish all the MoCap sessions and everything. It takes a lot of work. And then the game came out, and it just won all these awards, and it was a huge thing, so we just started part two of that.
We do know that Kojima Productions is working on at least two new titles. However, neither one of them has been announced to the public yet. It does seem very likely that a Death Stranding 2, or whatever it ends up being called, is in the works.

Death Stranding was first released for the PlayStation 4 back in 2019. It was then re-released with a Director's Cut in 2021. It has also been released for PC a couple of times, once for the original game's release and again with the aforementioned Director's Cut version.
