Different name, same Yakuza goodness.
Like a Dragon 8

Earlier today, Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio officially revealed Like a Dragon 8. This will be the next game in the studio's long-running Yakuza franchise only it's coming with a different name. Executive producer Masayohi Yokoyama announced the new game today and showed off the first teaser trailer.

I will say right now that this trailer contains some measure of spoilers for the previous games in the series. The trailer shows Yakuza: Like a Dragon's (Yakuza 7) main protagonist, Ichiban Kasuga, teaming up with Kazuma Kiryu, the star of the first six mainline games. Kiryu has a very different look in this one, that much is for sure.

Like its predecessor, Like a Dragon 8 will once again lean in hard to the RPG elements that separated Yakuza 7 apart from the more action-oriented titles. It again features turn-based combat where characters can spec into different class types all with their own unique abilities. Ichiban will again be accompanied by returning characters like former nurse Yu Nanba and retired police officer Koichi Adachi. Both Ichiban and Kiryu will get to build up their own teams in Like a Dragon 8. RGG says that Like a Dragon 8 will be the largest game they have made thus far in the series.

Like a Dragon 8 is currently looking to be released in 2024 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.
