Denuvo, the anti-tamper enthusiasts, just revealed new technology that they say will help to combat Nintendo Switch game piracy. Their announcement says that "by preventing piracy on Switch while blocking unauthorized emulations on PC, studios are able to increase their revenue during the game launch window."

Denuvo is calling their new technology "Nintendo Switch Emulator Protection." They say that this technology "will ensure that anyone wishing to play the game has to buy a legitimate copy." Denuvo also claims that the Nintendo Switch Emulator Protection will have "no impact on the gaming experience." However, that remains to be seen after it has been found multiple times that Denuvo can be detrimental to performance when included in PC games.

“We at Denuvo understand that piracy negatively affects the gaming industry and are working with the industry parties to ensure they have the latest protection technologies available for them. Our team is excited to provide a solution that helps the developers and publishers to help fight the issue of Nintendo Switch piracy,” said Reinhard Blaukovitsch, Managing Director at Denuvo by Irdeto.
Denuvo even admits in their announcement that it's "hard to pinpoint the exact number of players who emulate Switch games on PC." They do say that regardless of that, it's still "easy to find online forums dedicated to emulation and piracy," with some of the more popular groups having "more than one million followers each."
