The pre-season for YAGER's first-person "extraction shooter" The Cycle: Frontier is now available through Steam and Epic Games Store. This is a free-to-play game that blends PvE combat with PvP in a sci-fi world that features persistent maps and seemingly seamless matchmaking.
YAGER is calling this release the "pre-season" because the first season begins on June 22. When Season 1 launches on the 22nd it will offer up a Fortuna Pass that will offer various items and rewards for players to earn. We all know how this works by now, but it obviously doesn't hurt to repeat it from time to time.
Today's pre-season launch includes a bunch of changes, tweaks, and improvements made based on the feedback of the over 900,000 players that tried out the alpha and beta events.
If you want to support the game and devs, there are four different Welcome Packs available right now with up to a 25% discount: Initiate Pack, Professional Pack, Specialist Pack, and Elite Pack. Each of these packs includes unique outfits, weapon skins, plus various amounts of Aurum, Kmarks, and gear.
YAGER notes that there will be no progress or inventory wipe when Season 1 launches later this month. From what I'm gathering from early Steam reviews, this game is a bit like Escape from Tarkov but sci-fi. It's also apparently got some lingering bugs that will hopefully be taken care of in short order by YAGER.
