The new sci-fi survival horror title from the creator of Dead Space has a release date.
The Callisto Protocol

Striking Distance Studios announced last night that The Callisto Protocol will launch globally on December 2, 2022. This new sci-fi survival horror title is the latest game from Glen Schofield, the creator of the Dead Space franchise and current CEO of Striking Distance Studios. The reveal came during the latest State of Play event for PlayStation.

Don't worry though, because The Callisto Protocol will be released for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC in addition to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.

Players take control of Jacob Lee, a cargo ship pilot that is trapped inside the maximum security Black Iron Prison deep underground on Jupiter's moon, Callisto. Jacbo will be voiced by Josh Duhamel. Karen Fukuhara, one of the stars of The Boys, will voice a "mysterious fellow inmate."

An interview with Schofield was the focus of a recent Game Informer article. Following that interview, Schofield took to Twitter to reveal that while The Callisto Protocol was once planned to take place within the PUBG universe, that has since been changed.

“As a game director, there’s nothing more satisfying than taking players on a terrifying ride that stays with them long after they’ve put the controller down,” said Glen Schofield, CEO of Striking Distance Studios. “Survival horror games have been my passion for decades, and I’m excited to take advantage of the latest consoles to take the genre to terrifying new places when we ship The Callisto Protocol later this year.”

Striking Distance Studios is building The Callisto Protocol using a unique design process the team calls “Horror Engineering.” By blending elements of brutality, atmosphere, tension, humanity, and hopelessness, the studio delivers unforgettable scares that keep players’ hearts racing as they survive to escape the horrors of Callisto and Black Iron Prison.
