Maybe this time it'll be released.

Skydance New Media announced a new partnership with Lucasfilm Games that will see the studio creating a new Star Wars action-adventure title. Skydance New Media is a relatively new studio formed in 2019 and led by Amy Hennig.

Hennig's name should be familiar to gaming fans out there. She has worked in the gaming industry since the late 80s. However, she is perhaps most recognized for her work at Naughty Dog where she was the game director for Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, head writer and creative director for the Uncharted franchise, and was both the lead and writer on Uncharted 2: Among Thieves. Hennig directed and wrote Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception before moving on to starting work on Uncharted 4: A Thief's End. However, Hennig left Naughty Dog in 2014.

Since then, Hennig worked at Visceral Games where she was working on Project Ragtag. We had come to learn that Project Ragtag was an internal name for an open-world Star Wars game that Visceral was working on. This project was moved over to EA Vancouver after EA shut down Visceral in 2017 (I still miss them).

Hennig joined Skydance Media in late 2019 to start a new division there named Skydance New Media. In addition to this new Star Wars project, Skydance New Media is also working on a new action-adventure title alongside Marvel Entertainment.

Details on this new Star Wars title are a bit scarce right now, but here is everything we know thus far.

Skydance New Media, helmed by award-winning writer and director Amy Hennig, today announced a collaboration with Lucasfilm Games to develop and produce a richly cinematic action-adventure game featuring an original story in the legendary Star Wars™ galaxy.

“I’ve often described how seeing Star Wars in 1977 essentially rewired my 12-year-old brain, shaping my creative life and future indelibly,” said Hennig, President, Skydance New Media. “I’m elated to be working with Lucasfilm Games again to tell interactive stories in this galaxy that I love.”

“We couldn’t be more thrilled to be working again with Amy. She and the Skydance New Media team have the talent and ambition to create a unique Star Wars adventure,” said Douglas Reilly, Vice President, Lucasfilm Games. “Their vision for making inviting, cinematic interactive entertainment makes this collaboration very exciting. We’re working hard with their team of experienced and talented developers, and we’re looking forward to sharing more with Star Wars fans when the time is right.”
