Crystal Dynamics revealed that they are working on a new Tomb Raider game that will be built using Unreal Engine 5.

The studio made the announcement today during the State of Unreal 2022 event, where it was also revealed that Unreal Engine 5 is now available to download.

General manager for the Tomb Raider franchise Dallas Dickinson says that they will be creating a "high-quality cinematic action-adventure experience." The game sounds like it's still super early in development right now because no images nor video were shown off to accompany this announcement. Obviously, no release date nor release platforms were revealed yet either.

Dickinson continued on to say that the team will be trying to "push the envelope of fidelity" as they work to create a game that fans of the series deserve.

This new game may follow the previous game in the series, that being Shadow of the Tomb Raider, which was released in 2018. Since then, Crystal Dynamics created and released Marvel's Avengers. The studio is also working on a new Perfect Dark game.

Crystal Dynamics joins a few other big studios that recently announced that they are working with Unreal Engine 5 for their next projects. The others are The Coalition and CD Projekt Red.
