Bloober Team and Anshar Studios just released Layers of Fear today for PC, "Apple Silicon Mac", PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. They say that this is one of the first horror games built from the ground up using Unreal Engine 5. They're also saying that this is the definitive way to experience the Layers of Fear games, be you a new player or someone that has played the previous games already.

As one of the key figures behind such standout franchises like Doom, Quake, Heretic, and er... Daikatana, John Romero is no stranger to the gaming industry. Epic has officially released Unreal Engine 5 for developers to use. This comes about two years after Epic Games revealed their new engine with a tech demo release. Today's release of UE5 comes alongside a new playable demo, Lyra, and a "City Sample" that is the full city from The Matrix Awakens.

During today's "State of Unreal" stream, CD Projekt Red had a moment to explain just why they have decided to use Unreal Engine 5 for their upcoming Witcher sequel. The decision was made a while back to develop this sequel, be it called The Witcher 4 or something else, using Unreal Engine 5 instead of their in-house REDengine 4.
