A mysterious glimpse into the future.
On November 7th, BioWare was once again celebrating "N7 Day" as has become tradition on that date. As part of their celebration of all things Mass Effect, the studio tweeted out a new poster that perhaps provides a new glimpse at the future of the franchise.
The official Mass Effect Twitter account shared the image this weekend. At first glance, it appears to show a ship that landed near a crater on an alien planet. Digging deeper, however, shows that the shape of the crater impact zone very closely resembles the head of the Geth. The Geth being a race of "networked artificial intelligences." Legion, one of your crewmates in Mass Effect 2 and major character in Mass Effect 3, is a Geth (and pictured at the top of this article).
A new entry in the Mass Effect universe was first announced back on 2020's N7 Day. Just one month later in December 2020, we were given our first reveal trailer for the new game. This trailer seemed to feature an older Liara, hinting that the next title will take place in the future, long after the events that transpired in Mass Effect 3. As far as we know, the next entry will not be Mass Effect: Andromeda 2.
The new poster that was shared this past weekend can be found below.
