Ubisoft announced Ghost Recon Frontline today, a new PvP, FPS, free-to-play battle royale game that is currently in development. The game will support over 100 players and beyond just being a typical battle royale game, will feature some objective-based gameplay. This game is set to be released on the Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Stadia, Amazon Luna, and PC via Ubisoft Connect. There will be full cross-play at launch for all platforms.
You can actually register right now at the Ghost Recon Frontline website for a chance to get invited to early tests of the game. The first closed test begins October 14 and runs through October 21 for PC players located in Europe only.
The main mode in the game is called Expedition. It allows up to 102 players divided into teams of three to find and located three pieces of intel from drones. Once all three are found, it will point towards an extraction zone. Get extracted first to win. The catch is that once an extraction helicopter is called, everyone else knows where you are. Those teams can kill you and steal the extraction for themselves. Think of it as a far more annoying version of the already rather annoying Dark Zone from The Division titles.
There is no shrinking circle in Ghost Recon Frontline. You will have access to the entire 16km2 map. The map itself is also divided up into four different biomes and 20 different landmarks.
