    Idris Elba will take on his most challenging role yet: A red echidna. That's right, Elba is playing the role of Knuckles in the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog movie sequel (presumably Sonic the Hedgehog 2) that is slated to arrive in 2022. The Hollywood star tweeted out the announcement today.


    I, for one, think he's going to be amazing in the role. Elba is in the recently released The Suicide Squad. He has done some voice work in the past, including Chief Bogo in Zootopia, Fluke in Finding Dory, and Coach Ernie Ames in NBA 2K20.

        According to "multiple sources" close to The Hollywood Reporter, Keanu Reeves has been brought on to voice Shadow the Hedgehog for Sonic the Hedgehog 3. Reeves will be joining Jim Carrey as Dr. Robotnik, Idris Elba as Knuckles, and Ben Schwartz as Sonic.

        Another Sonic is coming in 2027.

        The third Sonic the Hedgehog movie, aptly named Sonic the Hedgehog 3, made its premiere on December 10. The release of the film in the United States isn't even until tomorrow, December 20th. That hasn't stopped Paramount from announcing that a fourth film, Sonic the Hedgehog 4, will be coming in Spring 2027.

        Variety is the first to announce that a fourth film is already being worked on. This news seems to be supported by another post-credits...
