I'll never understand how some of these people can even function within society.

Earlier today, Superhot VR was updated to remove a couple of "disturbing scenes" from the game. Prior to this update, there was an in-game toggle that allowed players to skip the scenes in question if they so desired. Those scenes being depictions of self-harm including shooting yourself in the head and jumping off of a building.

If you chose not to toggle these scenes off, you had to carry out these actions in order to progress through the game.

Today's update outright removes those gameplay segments from the game entirely. The dev team issued a brief statement about today's update, stating that they "can do better."

“Skip disturbing scenes” toggle was added in a previous update. Considering sensitive time we’re living in, we can do better than that. You deserve better. All scenes alluding to self harm are now completely removed from the game. These scenes have no place in superhot virtual reality. We regret it took us so long.

We’re commited to shipping this update to all vr platforms.

The Steam forums, being the real hotbed of angry manchildren that many Gamers™️ are these days, took to the comments section to shed big ol' angry tears over today's change. The discussion just on the update topic reached almost 400 replies before a developer stepped in to close it down. Topics hit upon in the thread covered the gamut from mocking Black Lives Matter, making racist remarks, transphobic slurs, homophobic slurs, and even touching upon religious wars. And you can rest assured that plenty of "SJW" and "snowflake" remarks were hastily banged out by plenty of those pathetic diaper wearers.

Though the initial update thread was closed, that did not stop the "fans" from taking to the General Discussion section of Superhot VR's little slice of Steam.

Naturally, these same people have also taken to review bombing Superhot VR on Steam. The game currently sits at "Mixed" for recent reviews. However, the overall score for the game remains at "Very Positive."

That's kind of all these people tend to have. Throwing out "snowflake" and then review bombing a game after a dev makes a voluntary choice to do better. I'm not sure any of them really see the irony of the tantrum throwers calling anybody snowflakes, but alas.

I, for one, applaud this move by the Superhot VR team. They recognized a problematic issue with their game and addressed it in a way that they thought was best. Fuck the haters.
