Today, Electronic Arts just announced a new next-gen golf game that is currently in development. This new game is called EA Sports PGA Tour and will include the "sights, sounds, and thrills of the PGA Tour including The Players Championship, FedExCup Playoffs, and more unforgettable events." Of course, there will be plenty of notable golf courses with some of the biggest names in the sport.

EA signed a new deal with the PGA Tour, not this PGA Tour but the real deal. The deal is said to be a "long-term deal" though no specifics were given as to the length or duration. The new title will be built off of the Frostbite engine and will make use of next-gen technology.

There is no word here on when this new game will be released nor were specifics for platforms given. However, it would probably be safe assumption to say that the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC will be the platforms of choice here. The PC platform might be a stretch though because not every EA Sports title ends up on PC. We're looking at you NHL franchise.

For the most up to date information, you can follow the game on Twitter.

“EA SPORTS and the PGA TOUR have created some of the most memorable golf video game experiences together, and we couldn’t be more excited to expand our sports portfolio with a new golf title on next-gen hardware,” said Cam Weber, EVP & GM, EA SPORTS. “Our team of passionate golf fans is meticulously recreating the world’s top courses such as Pebble Beach, and we can’t wait to give fans the opportunity to compete on some of the most iconic PGA TOUR courses and win the FedExCup.”

“We’ve partnered with EA SPORTS to bring immersive golf video game experiences to fans of all ages for years,” said Len Brown, PGA TOUR Chief Legal Officer and Executive Vice President Licensing and Merchandising. “We are thrilled to continue working with EA SPORTS on its golf franchise to authentically represent the PGA TOUR for the next generation. The newest game will give golf fans another way to experience their favorite sport, or to discover their passion for it.”
