New World, the upcoming MMO from Amazon Games, has been delayed twice already. It was first supposed to release in May 2020 but was then pushed back to an August 2020 release window. From there, it was then delayed until "Spring 2021." Now, that window is also shut and with it comes another move, this time to an August 2021 release.

The good news here is that they plan to have a closed beta beginning in July for would-be fans of the fantasy MMORPG. This closed beta begins on July 20, which will lead into a full release of the game on August 31. You know, assuming there aren't still more delays coming.

We’ve been hard at work on compelling end-game features we believe are important to include at launch. These features won’t be ready for the Spring timeframe that we had communicated. With that in mind, we will release New World on August 31, 2021. With this extra time we’ll be able to add these substantial improvements while polishing and fine tuning the whole game before we open Aeternum’s shores to the world.

We’ll continue our Alpha in the months to come and expand testing by standing up EU servers on March 30, 2021.
Those that pre-order New World will be granted access to the closed beta. Pre-orders for New World can be done through either Steam or Amazon.

Some of the new content revealed today in a new development update includes word of a new endgame zone called Ebonscale Reach. This is a land of "lush wetlands and towering cliffs." There are also new Expeditions, which are five-man instanced activities. There are also 20 vs 20 PvP battles in a place called Outpost Reach. The team has also introduced fishing and "done a full revamp to crafting." There are now "hundreds and hundreds of weapons and gear pieces." Combat has also reportedly been improved along with quest variety. Many of these changes were made in response to player feedback.
