To close out their presentation last night, EA announced a new Skate game! And that's literally all we know about it. Nobody during the presentation said that it was a Skate 4. Nobody said which platforms they were looking at developing the game for. All we know is that there's a new Skate game coming somewhere and at some time.
All of EA's talk and literature on the game is simply calling it "Skate." Perhaps it's just a reboot of the franchise at this point. I wouldn't expect too many drastic changes though, if that is indeed what they end up doing.
We don't even have a logo or anything to share with you today. I can probably find an image from one of the older Skate games to use for the header image, but that's as close as we can get right now.
In response to the voices of incredibly passionate fans for nearly a decade, Chief Studios Officer, Laura Miele, left one last surprise for players. Cuz Parry and Deran Chung, the game’s Game Director and Creative Director respectively, shared that while this is just the beginning and there is a long way to go, work on the next evolution in the Skate franchise has begun.
Which is fine, but we don't know what studio is working on it, the budget, whether it's for mobile or not, if any of the other original developers are still around, whether EA is going to rush it out to make us all shut up about the Skate franchise...
There's a lot to still be skeptical about, and if it's a full budget game it'll be a very long time before we get an update about it, so... maybe in the mean time can we get a re-release of Skate 3? That way if this does turn out poorly, at least we'll have that.
