PlayStation 5 Future of Gaming

The PlayStation 5 game reveal event from Sony was originally going to take place on June 4. That event was delayed due to the worldwide protests against police brutality. It just wasn't an appropriate time to hold such an event with more important matters going on.

Though the event was postponed, it wasn't pushed back by very long. Sony announced today that they will now host their "Future of Gaming" PlayStation 5 event on June 11 at 1PM (PT).

Sony confirms that this event will be pre-taped and be broadcast at 1080p and 30fps. Sony senior director Sid Shuman says that this new date allowed the production team to refine a few aspects of the show. It's still a bit curious that the show isn't being broadcast at 60fps, but I suppose beggars can't be choosers.

Shuman says that the "games you'll see on Thursday will look even better when you play them on PS5 with a 4K TV." Well, I sure as hell hope that the PS5 is capable of more than 1080p and 30fps. He also notes that headphone users may have a better experience due to "some cool audio work."
