    Yakuza Kiwami

Xbox One owners can now purchase and play Yakuza Kiwami for the Xbox One. Yakuza Kiwami is a full, top to bottom remake of the first Yakuza game. In the Yakuza timeline, it follows the events of the stellar Yakuza 0 and obviously comes before Yakuza Kiwami 2. Yakuza 0 was released a short time ago for the Xbox One. Kiwami 2 will be coming soon to the Xbox.

Both Xbox One owners and Windows 10 users that subscribe to Game Pass can download the game and begin playing immediately at no extra charge. If you do not yet have Game Pass, you can subscribe for a low monthly cost. If you would rather purchase Yakuza Kiwami outright, it will run you just $19.99 (USD) through the Microsoft Store.

Today's release on the Xbox One and Microsoft Store joins the PlayStation 4 and Steam releases of Kiwami that were released previously. For those on the fence about this, check out our review for Yakuza Kiwami for the PlayStation 4 version from late 2017. Hint: It's a great game even if it falls just shy of the lofty heights set by Yakuza 0.

Beyond Yakuza Kiwami 2, there is no word as to whether or not the other Yakuza titles will make their way to the Xbox One. Yakuzas 3 through 6 aren't yet on the PC yet in any capacity either. I have to imagine that they will one day hit both the Xbox and PC platforms. I just wish I knew when that day might be.

A ground-up remake of 2005's Yakuza, Yakuza Kiwami picks up where Yakuza 0 leaves off, and puts players back in the snakeskin shoes of series protagonist Kazuma Kiryu. After facing a 10-year prison sentence for a crime he didn't commit, he's released into a world he no longer recognizes, alone and expelled from his former yakuza family. Shortly after his release, he encounters a mysterious girl named Haruka, who may be the key to the answers Kiryu seeks.

Here are just a few of the features players can look forward to in Yakuza Kiwami on Xbox One and Windows 10:
    • Fight Like a Dragon: It wouldn't be Yakuza without thugs and rival yakuza trying to take you down around every corner! Master four distinct fighting styles, or just grab whatever is lying on the street - a traffic cone, a sign, or even a bike - to take down your enemies.
    • Majima Everywhere!: Who's that walking down the street? Or hiding behind the corner? Or lying in wait under that giant traffic cone? It's Majima, and he's everywhere! Yakuza Kiwami introduces the 'Majima Everywhere' system, where you'll always have to be on your toes and ready for combat when you encounter fan-favorite character Goro Majima... everywhere!
    • The Story Can Wait: Yakuza Kiwami contains a depth of content outside of the main story path - take a break with some karaoke, compete in Pocket Circuit races, collect cards for your MesuKing: Battle Bug Beauties team, complete over 70 substories, or just take a walk around Kamurocho... but keep an eye out for Majima!

The best Yakuza game to date.
Since January of 2017, I've had the good fortune to be able to review every Yakuza release that has come out on the PlayStation 4. It started with Yakuza 0, followed by Yakuza Kiwami, and then Yakuza 6 just a few months back. I have seen the beginning and the emotional end to this franchise. I have played it across two different game engines. Every entry has offered up something new and unique to experience while still maintaining a certain alluring appeal...

      Do It For Her.

Yakuza Kiwami is an updated remake of the original Yakuza title, a game that was originally released back in 2006 in North America for the PlayStation 2. Right out of the gate, Kiwami can and should be considered more than just a simple remake. It feels more like an extension of the fantastic Yakuza 0 that came to North America earlier this year and less like a game that came out nearly ten years ago. Yakuza Kiwami delivers updated assets, visuals, and even completely...
